Drone flying

Introduction: On a hot sunny Tuesday afternoon some people from the block including me went outside to fly the drone. Not many of us got to fly the drone because there was not enough battery. The drone was soaring through the sky. When i got a turn it felt like i was a pilot.

On Tuesday some people and Mr Moran and i went outside to fly the drone . Mr Moran told us that the drone was like a GPS. GPS stands for global positioning system. A GPS is a tracker that tell you where to go when you don’t know where to go.

Not all of use got a turn with the drone. But then Mr Moran said that we would do it again and they would get a turn It was so fun.

Movie Reviews of Forever Simple Me

Are you sick and tied of those long boring Hollywood Blockbusters? Well Maniakalani movies are just what you need. We enjoyed the movie forever simple me. This movie is by room 14 at Pt England school and was made for the 2009 Maniakalani Film Festival. The main Idea of this movie is that you can be yourself and that you don't  have to be just another person.Our favourite part  was when the boy was dressed as a queen. We give it a 5 out of 5 stars.

Skipping

Today in the morning The Block did some skipping. I was thrilled because I love to skip.
 First Mr Moran demonstrated what we had to do . It was easy for me but it was kind of hard for some people.
As soon as it was my  turn I tried to do it super fast and I ended up coming back quickly. Then on my 2nd turn when I went back my feet were so sore.
Next we had to jump in the big skipping rope. Usually it's easy to jump into the big skipping rope, but it was a bit difficult for me because it has been long since I have jumped into a big skipping rope.
Lastly there was a race. There had to be 1 girl and 1 boy from each  team. My team was 3rd place. I enjoyed playing the game.

The Fantastic Day

Today  my 2 cousins, my uncle and I had a fantastic day. Can you guess how many games we played today? Let me tell you. We played handball,  ping pong, gymnastics, darts, cricket, piggy bank race, karate, kicking and shooting the ball. Our favourite game was gymnastics because it involved running, jumping, flipping and we spent more time practising. Although we were dirty and exhausted  we still had a wonderful time.

Roots

Dear roots thank you for coming to our school and teaching us about water. I favourite thing was making the gardens in the bottle. We haven’t even put the water back in the plants.It was fun on the first day. I forgot how many lessons we had. I hope you can come back to Pt England.

Cross country

On a hot Friday I was so exited. It was cross country day. When it was my groups turn I was waiting for Mr Burt to clap.As soon as I heard the clapper mash!I sprinted past jade. Once I got to the gate I was extremely exhausted. I started jogging in the yuck oozy mud. It was a long run. My  legs were so sore.I felt like lying down on the grass. I was so hot. I was sweating.

Once I got to the gate I was extremely exhausted. I started jogging in the yuck oozy mud. I was delighted that I finished the race.As soon as Mr Burt smashed the clappers down my heart dropped and I dashed to the goalpost.

Elimination tag

On a sunny morning the block went to the park to play elimination tag with a little twist. There were 2 taggers and 3 throwers. Fast as a cheater I ran past Adriana but suddenly I got tagged by the ball.Mr Moran said  that we had to be honest to go sit down if we got tagged so I went and  sat down even though I wanted to keep on playing.The champion was Marius but as he was running he tripped and hurt his stomach. It was a good start for a Monday morning.

My brothers rugby game

Last week Saturday me and my family went to my brothers rugby game.It took 1 hour to get there. When we got there the school he was against  was Tuakau Collage.It was very cold.It wasn't muddy. When they started playing it started to rain.My brother had the ball. He was almost about to get a try but then he got tackled.Then he passed the ball to his partner and he scored a try.When the game was over my brother's team took a picture.When he came in the car I saw lots of cuts on his legs.They lost against Tuakau Collage

Poly Strong

The song means that is doesn't matter what culture you are,but you can still do other dances.Like for example if your Tongan it doesn't mean you can’t do a Samoan dance.It was also saying hello in different languages.Also it was talking about that you should be proud of your culture.Also you can speak Fijian even if your not Fijian.Today the block did the poly strong challenge.We had to wear a lava lava and do a dance.

A healthy lifestyle is like when you go to bed on time, like around 7 o'clock or 8 o'clock. Also you should have a very good breakfast  so you have a good day at school. For exercise kids should play outside for exercise. We should always brush our teeth two time day. Everyday you should shower to keep yourself clean.

Family movie night

In the holidays me and my family went to my aunty's house for a family movie night. The movie that we watched was called thunderstruck. I realy liked the movie because  it was about a boy who stole a famouse baskateball players talent. In the midlle of the movie we had twisties and pop corn. It was fun. My favuorite part was when we ate the food. The food was so nice there was pig,potatoe salad, sasauge, padie and  pizza. I was about to fall asleep when the last movie was on. I enjoyed the movie night.

The seven kites.

In a valley where the trees grew tall and where the grass grew rough, there lived 7 sisters. Every harvest the 7 sisters made kites.The first oldest sister’s was green she made it out of the harakeke bush. The second sister’s kite was orange she made it out of the ruapo bush. The 3rd sister’s kite was pink made out of the manuka tree. The 4th sister’s kite was red made from the puriri tree. The 5th sister made a blue kite and she made it out of the colour of the river. The 6th sister made a white kite out of the toetoe bush. The littlest made a colorful kite. Her name was Matariki.


Then the 7 sisters took their kite to the top of the hill, but when they got there, there was no wind. So they tied their kites to the puriri tree. After they tied it up they went to sleep. While they were sleeping the wind blew the kites off the tree. Then Matariki woke and said “where are our kites?” Her sisters woke up from the sound of her crying. The sisters looked everywhere for their kite. They said “Where are our kites?”





Up in the sky the the kites were dancing in the sky. The seven sisters were pleased to see their kites shine brighter than the stars. Each morning Matariki rose to signal every new year.

Isaac Newton

I have been learning about the life of Isaac Newton. I was allowed to share what I learnt anyway that I wanted. My teacher suggested that I try Sketchnoting. I am very proud of what I have shared all about Isaac Newton.

Zoo trip

My class went on a fun trip to the zoo. I saw a Meerkat for the first time and it looked so so cute I never knew the Meerkat would be so small.


The animal I saw was the Cheater the Cheater was running around and the other Cheater was just lying down. The next animal I saw was a Rhino it was on a hill it had a big horn his nose. After that i went to africa to see the Elephants. My favourite animal was the Elephant because it was so big and it had a long trunk . After that my class went to Te Wao Nui. We were learning about kiwis and birds. When we were learning about the birds the lady brought us there gave us a piece of paper their was all types of birds we had to look for all of the birds. The coolest part was when I saw that there was food hammered to a branch next to the birds home. Then my class went to the Bug Lab it was so cool.My favorite part was when I had 2 sticks and there was a question I only had 5 wrong and 3 right it was hard questions. There was a big Cockroach that was a slide, it was only a short slide.After that Jayla found me, then she took me to a bee hive. It was fun because I had to rup as hard as I could to make the bee glow. Once it glowed Jayla screamed and ran away.


During our day I learnt that kiwis have there nose on tip of their beak.

It was lots of fun because it was my first time at the zoo.

My catapult

Yesterday I shot my teacher and he started crying.To learn about energy my class made catapults. We used popsicle sticks and sellotape. We used pom poms for our bullets. It was a big war, friends shooting friends, students shooting teachers and even some of the kids were under the table shooting at other kids. This helped us learn about gravity, kinetic energy and potential energy. Gravity is when something falls. Potential energy is stored energy and kinetic energy is moving energy. To make a catapult you need to stack 4 popsicle sticks on top of each other then sellotape the two ends together. Next get 2 popsicle sticks lay them on top of each other and sellotape one end to make a shape like scissors. Put the layer of 4 in between the middle of the 2 scissors. I felt like I was in a real war. It was fantastic. I learnt so much about energy.

Mufti Day and Wheels Day

Introduction: Have you ever brought bike or scooter and skateboard to school? Well last week Friday my school had mufti day and wheels days. The only time we were aloud to ride our wheels was just at lunch time.Also that all of the money we raised goes to year 8 camp .


Lots of the kids had wheels, it was like a race track with lots of bikes a scooters and skateboards. It was so cool.

How to play Ki o rahi

How to play Ki o rahi.The object that  they use is a ball made of flax.There are 2  teams the names are Kioma and Taniwha. The game is like netball and rugby. There is a tupu it is the target. The taniwha has to stand behind a line. The have to through it to the target, but they have to get it past the defenders. The Kioma team can score around the sides. When they score they have to get it to the target. For the game you need to through hard. You need to catch the ball, you need to run fast. If you have the ball you are not allowed to move
It is a good game because instead of fighting people can play Ki o rahi.

Omaru creek

Omaru creek is like a filthy soup and has an awful stench, because people are destroying our environment. In Omaru creek it is filled with overwhelming pollution also discarded rubbish. The rubbish has an awful stench.

Teamwork can always make a difference. We can always make a difference. We can restore nature to its best.



Omaru creek is clean enough to swim in. It has pristine sparkling water. Near the water comes an abundance. It is pure trangule beauty.

Dora's Pirate Adventure

Have you ever been on an adventure? Well, let me tell you about a girl who has been on an adventure and her name was Dora. It all started when Dora, Isa, Diego and her friend were putting on a pirate play. Then when they went to get there costumes, suddenly came the pirate piggies. They came to steal the treasure chest.  When they took it they thought it was a treasure.  So they took it to Treasure Island. Dora and her friends knew where they were going they just didn't know where is Treasure Island. So they asked Map. The map said, that they had to go past the seven seas and past the singing bridge. When they got there they took the treasure which was pirate clothes and they put on there play. So the moral of the story is never ever take stuff that isn't yours. 

How to make crystal

 You will need a bottle that is empty and also cut in half, a metal stick, a metal wire, a bucket, scissors, a feather, a 1/2 measuring cup, borax,  good thoughts to make it work and lastly a wooden spoon.

Step 1 you need to rap the metal wire around the feather and around the metal stick.

Step 2 a small cut on the sides of the bottle.

Step 3 put the metal stick in the cuts.

Step 4 fill the bucket with three cups of hot water.

Step 5 put 2 cups of borax in the bucket.

Step 6 stir the borax and water using the wooden spoon and think about good thoughts.

Step 7 pour it carefully into the bottle. 

Step 8 put in the freezer for 2 hours.

Step 9 pour the water out in your garden.

Step 10 leave it to dry then it will become a crystal

I learned how to do it at Te Oro. It was so fun.

Trip to the Library

On a cloudy windy day,  Angelina, my mum and I went on the bus to the GI Library. We borrowed 3 books each. My books were called The big bad blackout, The Extra Special Group and Borgon the Axeboy. Angelina's books were Leo Da Vinci, Hene, and the burning Harbour and The big Old Smelly Orge. Then we went to the 2 dollar shop to buy 2 water guns for me and Lina, at first, it was hard to choose from all the water guns they had in the store. After that, we went to the Bakery to buy 2 cups of hot chips. After a while, my mum called my older sister to pick us up. When we got home Lina and I straight away had a water fight with our water guns in our backyard. I am grateful that my mum took me and Angelina on the bus trip

Going to Thompson Park

It was a bright and sunny afternoon. My family and I went to Thompson Park and we saw something different. There was a big slide, bars, and a little playground. The first thing I did was eat delicious corn and yummy Otai. Then me my uncle Ma'ake and my two cousins Alexis and Isla went to the park. We started at the bars and tried to do pushups. I could do only 1 on the tall bars and 2 on the short bars. After 5 minutes we played Cheat. This a very difficult but fun game to play. The next thing I did was play with my mum and Alexis on the field playing soccer. It was me and Alexis Vs, my mum. My mum had 3 points and Alexis and I only had 1. After that, my family and I played piggy in the middle. We started with only me, Alexis and Ma'ake but I was the winner because I stayed in. It was kind of hard but I still had fun. I felt joyful because I enjoyed myself.
