To Santa

Dear Santa do you really have a slay? If you do, can you bring it to pt England school. How meany rain deers do you have? Hello my name is Shayna and I go to pt England and I live in Auckland. Can you come to pt England? Why do people say jolly old santa? We have an advent calendar. I used to think that in December it would be winter. In Auckland it is very hot. It is summer. My favourite thing to do is draw pictures and play sports. Can you please bring me a colouring set for Christmas. How old are you? In my class my teacher is Miss Nalder. She is the best teacher because she makes learning fun from Shayna 

 

The Manaiakalani Movies

Yesterday at night, Miss Nalder picked me, Julius and Toks up from our houses. Then we went to Sylvia Park McDonalds to eat. After that we went to the cinemas and that's where I saw my old school Ruapotaka and I saw some of my friends. After a while Miss Nalder said "Why don't we have a walk around?" Then we played tag. After a minute it was time to go into the theatre. We watched a lot of Manaiakalani movies. Room 24s movie was last. When it was done, my mum and dad said that they were proud of me. My brother and my sister kept on laughing because of how I had been Malala in the movie. I felt proud of myself. 

     

 

The girl who hated books

Once upon a time there was a girl who hated books. Her house was full of books, her parents brought lots of books. One day the characters in the books came to life. The girl didn't know what to do so she said "get back in the stories!" She shouted but it didn't work so she only had one choice but to read the 30 books in one day. That was going to be hard so she started reading. After a long long read she was done with reading her 30 books. But she felt interested in books so she read again. When her parents came they were surprised. The girl said "now I know reading is fun."

Going to church

On Friday I went to my church with my cousin watch the lion king. We had popcorn with caramel, packet of lollies and a drink with normal popcorn. We watched the hole movie. When it was finished we had to clean up the mess. Then when when we were done we went home because I almost fell asleep in the the end of the movie. On the way home then I hit the seat then I woke up. At home I watched another movie on my cousins iPad.

The solar system

The solar system is in space and is a group of planets that orbit the sun. There are nine planets in the solar system. Their names are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.The sun is a star. If we didn't have the sun it would be freezing cold like winter. The sun is made out of gas and helium.

Earth has another name. It is called the Goldilocks planet because it is not too hot, not too cold - it is just right. Mars is known as the red planet. It is hot. Mars has red soil. Mars is smaller than earth.

The moon orbits the earth. The moon doesn't give us night. The earth is spinning and when it spins, it becomes night when the sun isn't facing us. The moon doesn't have as much gravity as earth. 

Venus and earth are like the same size. But there is a difference. Venus is very hot. It is the second closest planet to the sun. 

Neptune and Pluto are the farthest planets. It is far away from the sun. It is very cold in Neptune and Pluto.

My monster is called rainbowella she has rainbow skin and her ears stick out of her head. She has sharp white teeth. Her hands and her feet is red. Her face is dark blue. She has a red nose. Rainbowella has black hair that is curly. Rainbowella has red eyes like snail eyes. Her lips are rose red. She has long eyelashes. She has long hair. Rainbowella likes to look for rainbows when ever the weather is mixed. Her favourite food is mashed potatoes with sausage and cheese. She is a enjoyed and fun person. Whenever she gets angry she says it's okay. When she sleeps she dreams of having rainbow wings. Also she doesn't like fish or any thing that starts with g. Her breath smells like lollipops. She likes to play and bake cakes cupcakes muffins and her favourite to bake is bread. Rainbowella likes the colour red green orange purple and yellow.

My Exiting weekend

 

First on Saturday afternoon me and my mum were in the backyard, my mum asked if I wanted to dig some kumara. I said yes! because I thought it would be like a treasure hunt, I was right it was like a treasure hunt. Every time we found one  we said "wow"! When me and my could not find any we washed them with  the hose. When my mum finished washing them we counted them. When we got to the last Kumara and "we said we found 30 kumara ! "Then we gave some to our neighbors on the right. At the end we had a napp. I felt exited because it was like a treasure hunt.

Magical Matariki

What is Matariki?

Matariki is the Maori New Year and the seven stars. The 7 stars shine brightly in the sky and they are in a group. The seven stars appear in late May or early June and there is a new moon it is the beginning of the Maori new year. The stars disappear in Aotearoa in late April. The stars have another name called the 7 sisters. Matariki is the name of the eldest sister. She is guiding her younger sisters to their place. When the seven stars shine brightly it will  be warm also it will be good for growing crops and gathering seafood. We celebrate Matariki in lots of different ways. We weave flax and fly kites. We tell stories from the past. We learn about how the Maori people used the stars. It’s a time to forgive and forget the problems of the past. We make plans for the future.

We have been learning to make, name, and recognise wholes, halves, third parts, fourth parts and fifth parts using play dough.

My holiday

In the holiday I went to the swimming pool with my mum and Melemanu also other people. It was a long way. We got there it was amazing but my mum did not want me to swim because it was a cold day. My mum only let me swim when it was the after noon. I swam in a pool that had a slide it had all kinds of pools. After the slide I staed at the movie pool with melemanu. After an hour we had lunch it was sosich rolls and chips. Then I went back to the movie pool. Then we went after three hours it was fun. 

Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs

Once upon a time there lived a beautiful, elegant Queen with a good heart. She lived in a huge castle. The Queen had a wish to have a baby daughter named Snow White. Then her wish came true. As Snow White grew up the Queen became ill and passed away. Then the king remarried again he married an Evil Queen. She was an arrogant woman. Everyday she would always say to her glass mirror "mirror mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all?" the mirror would reply "no one only you". One day the Queen said to the mirror again "mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?" The mirror replied "Sorry not you, Snow White is the fairest". Suddenly the Queen was angry so she gave a Huntsman an order to take her to the woods and kill her. The Huntsman was about to kill her but he could do no harm. When Snow White knew about the Queen's plan, the Huntsman said "go into the woods and never come back". She went into the woods. When the Queen went to the mirror she asked who is the fairest ad the mirror still said "sorry it is not you it is Snow White". Meanwhile Snow White had found the 7 dwarfs house in the woods, she cleaned it up. The Queen came and knocked on the door with a disguise. When Snow White opened the door it was an old lady, she asked if she could have a bowl of soup. When she finished the bowl of soup she gave her an apple that was poisoned. When she had one bite she fell on the floor sleeping. When the dwarfs came home one of the dwarfs said "this apple is poisoned!". In the end they put her in a long glass box on top of a hill. A prince came and saw her. He lifted the glass and kissed her. Snow White woke up and they got married. When the King knew about the poisoning the sent the Queen far away.

We have been picking a name out of a box and we rote a letter to them. I have been asking questions to Sheldon and how was there weekend.Then we did a picture that marches our writing. Next my teacher put my letter in the envelope. Room 24 put it in the mail box.

Melinda Szmanik Visits Room 24

Yesterday in the morning Melinda Szymanik came to visit room 24. She came because she is an author of children's books and she wanted to share her love of books and with us. First she went to room 27 and 25 then she went to room 24. She was reading us the Were Nana it was scary then we talked about the book. Next we listened to her read the book with no pictures. We all laughed at the book. After that she told us about the names in the book and chose those names. I felt delighted because she used exspression.

Making Jelly

Yesterday in the morning room 24 stared making traffic light jelly.First Taoro put hand sanitizer on his hands Miss Szmanikgave the jelly crystal and put it in the bowl. .Next Miss Szmanik poured the hot boiling water into the measuring  .Miss Szmanik did it because she was an adult and room 24 might get burnt.After that she poured two cups of hot boiling water into the bowl.Then Kyzel mixed it until all the jelly crystals were gone.Lastly  Miss Szmanik took the jelly to the fridge to set. We did the same thing for the orange and green jelly. It tasted delicious.

My Weekend

On Saturday last week in the morning we celebrated my papa's  birthday. First me and my mum brought the groceries for the birthday.We brought sausage and potato and other.Then we put the toys in a container for the kids in an hour the people came.We started the birthday.Me and my cousin were the ones to cut the cake it was a chocolate cake.Lost of people were eating and watching a Tongan movie.After that we had dessert.Next me and my cousin went inside my house because my cousin wanted to watch an English movie on my brothers laptop.When  we sat down I didn't notice the new chair.When I sat down it felt squishy and soft it felt comfortable.When the birthday was finished we packed away the stuff.

Playing with My Friends

On Sunday I played a game with my friend. First I played rock paper scissors with her to see who would pick a game. She won so she picked hang man. After that we went outside to the back yard to help my Mum paint a picture. Lastly I went with my mum to drop off my friend. I felt joyful because I had so much fun!

I have two brothers and two sisters and one smooth dog called Missy. My family are important to me because they care about me. My favourite food is mashed potato and sausage.
